South Korea ranked sixth last year in the "world's most powerful country" survey, which evaluates military, economic, and diplomatic power.
The US News & World Report (USNWR) announced the ranking of the 2022 most powerful countries on the 31st of last month (local time).
The U.S. took first place. China and Russia ranked second and third, respectively.
USNWR diagnosed the United States as "the most dominant economic and military power in the world." He said, "Culturally, we are influencing the world by leading a significant part of popular culture expressed in music, movies, and television." However, he said, "Despite being the world's strongest country, the United States still faces domestic problems such as racial tension, income inequality, and increasingly polarizing voters."
As for China, "It is one of the world's fastest-growing major economies since former leader Deng Xiaoping implemented reforms in 1978, and China's rapid economic development has brought various domestic problems such as population growth, balance of natural resources, deepening income inequality, and severe pollution across the country."
In the case of Russia, it was explained as "huge territory," "world concerns due to the Ukrainian war," and "an economic power based on vast natural resources."
Germany ranked fourth and Britain ranked fifth. South Korea then ranked sixth. Korea's ranking rose two notches from eighth place last year. "Korea's high-tech and service-based economy became the first beneficiary of the OECD Development Assistance Committee's fund as a successful case of foreign investment and has since experienced steady growth and poverty reduction since the 1960s, and is now one of the world's largest economies. "We have the world's largest gross national savings (GNS) and foreign investment reserves," he said.
France ranked seventh, Japan ranked eighth, United Arab Emirates ranked ninth, and Israel ranked 10th. Japan ranked sixth last year, but it went down two notches by changing places with Korea.
The country that received the most attention in the survey. Ukraine rose vertically from 33rd to 14th in the previous year. The USNWR said, "We are currently receiving tremendous political and military support from countries including the United States as well as the European Union and NATO, and are widely celebrated for our resistance to Russia." But the population, cities and industries have been destroyed by the invasion, and it will take decades to rebuild them, he added.
The survey is published annually by the USNWR, which surveys 17,000 people in 85 countries around the world, including political, economic, and military power.
