As the popularity of "premium phones" continued despite the recession, Apple proved once again that it is a "stronger." It easily beat Samsung Electronics, which was chasing with 'popularization of foldable phones', and kept its No. 1 position in global smartphone market sales in the third quarter of last year.
According to data on "Global Mobile Phone Market Sales in the Third Quarter of Last Year" analyzed by market research firm Counterpoint Research on the 6th, Apple's market share remained at the top with 42.0% points, up 4.9% points from the same period last year. Apple's sales in the third quarter of last year increased 10% year-on-year despite significant disruptions in production of "iPhone" due to China's "Zero Corona."
Samsung Electronics' situation has worsened compared to a year ago. This is because despite all-out efforts in marketing and sales after the launch of the "Galaxy Z4" series, which is a "foldable phone," shipments in the third quarter of last year fell 6% year-on-year and sales fell 4%. ASP also increased only 2%, and its share of sales decreased by 0.2%p from a year ago to 18.3%. In addition, the gap with No. 1 Apple increased from 18.5%p to 23.7%p in a year, and the gap with No. 3 Xiaomi decreased slightly from 10.8%p to 10%p in the third quarter of last year, making it faceless.
Xiaomi's sales share rose 0.6%p from a year ago to 8.3% thanks to the good performance of mid- to low-priced products. Cell phone sales increased 4% year-on-year, and the proportion of sales shifted from the price range of less than $200 to the price range of $200-299 dollars. Xiaomi's share of shipments above $300 fell nearly 1.5%p, but as a result, Xiaomi's ASP rose 14% year-on-year to $205.
