China to abolish quarantine on arrivals from today

China has abolished quarantine measures for inbound travelers, which have been forced to prevent COVID-19, from today.

In addition, quarantine measures have been greatly eased to allow entry as long as the results of the PCR test conducted 48 hours before departure are negative.

Instead, visiting and staying foreigners only need to submit negative results of the COVID-19 PCR test conducted 48 hours before departure.

In addition, the Chinese government has decided to gradually resume accepting applications, screening, and permission for general passport applications by its citizens for overseas tours and visiting friends.

Earlier, since March 2020, the Chinese government has implemented compulsory facility quarantine measures for up to three weeks for inbound travelers to block the inflow of COVID-19.

The number of flights to and from China has been drastically reduced, and short-term tourist visas for foreigners have also been restricted.

However, as of today, as the so-called "Great Wall of Defense" has been lifted, human exchanges between China and the outside world are expected to begin in earnest.

However, some predict that the number of people traveling to and from China will not surge in a short period of time as countries around the world are strengthening quarantine against arrivals from China in consideration of the possibility of a new mutation from China.

The Korean government restricted the issuance of short-term visas and additional flights from China to Korea, and mandated COVID-19 tests before and after entering the country for arrivals from China.
